“I’ve paid close attention to the rise of eSports. Seeing the realism of racing games and how drivers are using racing simulators to practice, or professional eSports players going from simulation to the real thing, is just incredible. The Real Race is designed to portray realism and professionalism. Skills in sim racing are so transferable, which is why Lamborghini wants to give players an opportunity to test drive the real thing as part of the prize. There’s nothing quite like getting behind the wheel of a Lamborghini.”– David Coulthard MBE, Former Formula One Racing Driver
What is The Real Race?
For the first time ever, Lamborghini is hosting an eSports sim racing championship tournament. The event kicked off with its first week of qualifiers on the weekend of May 29th, and there will be four more through August 2nd. Some of the top players from each week of qualifiers will then be invited to the Lamborghini headquarters for the live finale event on September 18th.
Which sim does the event use?
The event will take place on Assetto Corsa Competizione, an Italian-developed racing simulator that was created in tandem with real automakers. The sim is used by Lamborghini Squadra Corse by actual race driver to prepare for real-world races, making it the perfect sim to use for this tournament. The racers will be driving a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO available with 12 different exclusive race liveries.
We’re excited to see how this event plays out and what it means for the future of Lamborghini and eSports!
