Lamborghini makes a lot of exciting vehicles, but with front-wheel drive vehicles dominating the market, you may be wondering, will Lamborghini ever make a front-wheel-drive vehicle? We are not Lamborghini, so we can’t say either way definitively, but we can illustrate the drawbacks that may make Lamborghini never use front-wheel drive.
There are some key advantages to front-wheel drive, and most of them revolve around stability. To explain why a front-wheel-drive car is almost always more stable than a rear-wheel-drive car, imagine a pencil laying on a table. You have to move the pencil by either pushing on the eraser or pulling on the tip. Which will be easier?
When you push the eraser, the pencil has a tendency to flop from side to side, but if you pull on the pencil lead, it will follow wherever you want to go. Cars work much the same way, so why use rear-wheel drive at all.
Similarly, when your vehicle accelerates, your car always wants to shift away from the direction of acceleration. It will go in any direction, but since the tires are hopefully holding it straight, and the ground doesn’t let it shift downward, the nose of the car will actually shift up. This transfers weight away from the front wheels and back towards the rear wheels.
In a front-wheel-drive car, the faster you accelerate, the more weight wants to transfer away from your drive wheels, which are the very things that are letting you accelerate in the first place. This is why front-wheel-drive cars have their tires slip a lot under heavy acceleration.

However, in rear-wheel-drive cars, this effect actually puts more weight on the rear tires thereby increasing grip and improving acceleration. In the choice between front-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive, performance cars will almost always favor the rear-wheel-drive configuration.
Rear-wheel drive may be better than front-wheel drive in terms of performance, but it is not the best. That goes to all-wheel drive, which is why all Lamborghini models either offer all-wheel drive (Huracan) or come with it standard (Aventador and Urus).
