Five Fun Facts About the Lamborghini Super Trofeo

Racing season is upon us and we couldn’t be more excited! The Lamborghini Super Trofeo is back for another year with a kickoff in Austin, Texas on the third weekend of May. Our teams, Lamborghini Palm Beach – PPM (Precision Performance Motorsports) and Taurino Racing, are both getting ready to take on the tracks. Since we have a couple more weekends before the racing starts, we wanted to share five fun facts about the Lamborghini Super Trofeo. Check them out below!

Five Things You Didn’t Know About This Race

  1. Celebrity Racers. Over the years, there have been many celebrities who have raced in the Super Trofeo. This list of celebrity racers includes Tony Cairoli, Chad Reed, Andrea Dovizioso, and 13 drives from Formula 1 Racing.
  2. A successful format. The Super Trofeo is broken down into 260 minutes of track, two free practice rounds, two qualifying sessions, and two races. Each of these last 50 minutes. This racing format allows novice drivers to gain experience while senior drivers can share the seat with a team member.
  3. Welcoming to new drivers. In 2020, 31 drivers made their racing debut. About 10 of them were under 21 years old and had their first appointment of 2021 in Monza. One of the most impressive entry drivers was Giacomo Altoé, a 17-year-old who won the Super Trofeo Europe, the World final of Vallelunga, and the Gran Turismo Italian Championship. He is now an official Lamborghini driver.
  4. Reaching 1,000 drivers. Over 13 editions, there have been 955 pilots which includes 66 different nationalities and 18 women drivers. The most notable women drivers are Pippa Mann, who has seven participations in the Indy 500, and Katherine Legge, who has done nine 24 Hours of Daytona.
