Will Lamborghini ever make a single-seat car?

What is the Lamborghini Egoista?

Lamborghini now has a four/five seat car in its lineup with the Urus, so it’s understandable if people are thinking they could one day go the other way and build a street car that just has a driver’s seat. Though that remains to be seen, you have to see the Lamborghini Egoista. What is the Lamborghini Egoista?  Please allow us to introduce you.

Is the Egoista a concept car?

Technically, the Egoista is not a concept car. Don’t get your hopes up though, because it was never intended to be a production car either. In fact, though it is a cool vehicle that is completely in the vein of Lamborghini design, it wasn’t designed by Lamborghini.

Instead, it was designed by Walter De Silva who is the head of Volkswagen Group Design. The Egoista is a tribute car for the 50th anniversary of Lamborghini.

Though it is several years old, its unique looks still come up in conversations even several years later. The Egoista’s permanent home is the Lamborghini Museum in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy.

Unique elements of the Egoista

Not only is the Egoista a single seat vehicle, but it also has a design that looks like a cross between an Aventador and a jet fighter. This look is further augmented by the cool gray color along with the orange accents that even include the windows. It turns out, the windows are also practical as the orange coating serves to prevent glare.

The cockpit is driver-centric, isolating people from everything except the car and the open road before it. The top window articulates and opens requiring the driver to remove the steering wheel and sidle up and out of the vehicle much like a real jet fighter.

Specifications of the Egoista

As you would expect from a Lamborghini, the Egoista includes a powerful V10 engine. Its 5.2 liters of displacement can output up to 600 horsepower. The engine resides directly behind the driver in a mid-engine format. The car is also very lightweight. This was primarily because it could do away with many of the interior luxuries that are necessary in a street vehicle with more than one seat.
