Last week, if you had asked if there was a Lamborghini Huracan Performante convertible, we would have told you no. We would have said that instilling that level of performance and trackability into a convertible is impossible. But today, we have been proven wrong. Not only is there a Huracan Performante Spyder, but it has defied expectations and stayed true to the Performante formula. Let us tell you all about it.
For the most part, the specifications for the Huracan Performante Spyder should sound familiar, as it has much in common with its Coupe brother. With a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine, it can pump out 640 horsepower at 8,000 rpm. This engine allows the supercar to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 3.1 seconds and achieve a top speed of over 200 mph.
In addition to all that, the Huracan Performante Spyder also takes advantage of all the Huracan Performante’s technology. You’ll see the same styling present that helps the Performante achieve its impressive aerodynamic characteristics. This includes active aerodynamics by way of ALA or Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva.
Of course, the Performante Spyder also has permanent four-wheel drive, Lamborghini Dynamic Steering, and Lamborghini’s driver-mode system complete with Strada, Sport, and Corsa modes. This is one wild ride, set to conquer the track and the road while also letting its top down.
Lamborghini has once again put Forged Composites® to work in the design of the Huracan Performante Spyder to save weight and increase strength. Contrary to logic, taking the roof off a performance car actually increases the weight.
This is because the roof of a supercar actually makes up a lot of the vehicle’s rigidity. To put that rigidity back into the vehicle after the roof’s removal, Lamborghini engineers had to instill a considerable amount of strength into the remaining parts of the convertible.
So how much does the Huracan Performante Spyder weigh? It weighs 77 pounds less than the Huracan Spyder, and only 275 pounds more than the Huracan Performante Coupe, making for a dry weight of 3,322 pounds for this astounding Spyder.
