When designing first began on the first successor to the Countach, there was one major milestone jotted down in the brief. The car was to exceed 315 km/h of 196 mph. When the Diablo was finally unveiled in 1990, this beast had a top speed of 202 mph. Not only was this significant for surpassing the Countach, but it also marked the first time a production car had ever had a top speed over 200 mph. When it comes to acceleration, the standard Diablo was capable of going from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 4.5 seconds. This was another impressive milestone for the time.
